The figures behind the schedule
Maid Salary Calculator Malaysia
How a domestic helper’s pay is worked out in Malaysia — monthly salary, rest day allowance, PERKESO (SOCSO) contribution and loan repayment — with the contribution schedule the calculator above reads from, a worked example, and the questions employers ask most.
How a maid’s monthly salary is worked out
Each pay period starts from the agreed monthly salary and ends at a net figure both parties can check.
- Basic payThe agreed monthly salary. A first or last period shorter than a full month is pro-rated over a 26-day working month, not over the calendar.
- Rest day allowanceA rest day worked is paid at 1.5× the daily rate, and the daily rate is the monthly salary divided by 26.
- SOCSO deductionThe employee’s share of the PERKESO contribution, if the parties have agreed to share it. Nothing is deducted where the employer bears the whole contribution.
- Loan repaymentAn agreed instalment, spread evenly over the repayment months and never deducting more than is still owed.
- Net payableWhat the maid actually receives that month.
SOCSO contribution rates for a domestic helper
PERKESO contributions are a flat amount for a wage band rather than a percentage of the exact wage, so every helper paid between RM1,400 and RM1,500 contributes the same. The First Category covers the Employment Injury Scheme and the Invalidity Scheme and is shared between employer and employee; the Second Category covers Employment Injury only and is the employer’s alone. Which category a placement falls under is a matter of the worker’s registration, not a choice made on a calculator.

A worked example
RM1,500.00 a month · 24-month contract · employer bears the SOCSO contribution · no loan
- Basic pay
- RM1,500.00
- A rest day worked, if any
- RM86.54
- SOCSO deducted from the maid
- RM0.00
- Net payable to the maid
- RM1,500.00
- SOCSO paid by the employer
- RM32.60
- Total monthly cost to the employer
- RM1,532.60
Had the parties agreed to share the contribution instead, the maid would contribute RM7.25 a month and take home RM1,492.75, and the employer’s share would be RM25.35.
What the calculator produces
One press prints a salary payment schedule on the agency’s letterhead — one line per pay period, a signature block for both parties — and an individual payslip for every month of the contract.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a maid's salary in Malaysia?
Start from the agreed monthly salary, add any rest day worked, then take off the SOCSO contribution the maid bears and any agreed loan instalment. What is left is the net payable for that month. A month that is not a full month - the first and the last of a contract - is pro-rated over a 26-day working month rather than over the calendar, so a contract starting mid-month does not quietly pay for days nobody worked.
How much is the SOCSO contribution for a maid earning RM1,500 a month?
RM32.60 a month in total under the First Category: RM25.35 from the employer and RM7.25 from the employee. Under the Second Category, which covers the Employment Injury Scheme only, it is RM18.10 and the whole of it is the employer's. These are the figures from the PERKESO Rate of Contribution schedule for wages above RM1,400 and not above RM1,500, and they are a flat amount for the band rather than a percentage of the exact wage.
Who pays the SOCSO contribution - the employer or the maid?
Both shares exist under the First Category, but many agencies and employers agree that the employer bears the whole contribution so that the maid's take-home pay is the round figure she was quoted. The calculator offers both: borne by the employer, in which case nothing is deducted and the employer's cost is salary plus contribution, or shared, in which case the maid's statutory share appears as a deduction on each payslip.
How is rest day or Sunday pay calculated?
A rest day worked is paid at one and a half times the ordinary daily rate, and the daily rate is the monthly salary divided by 26. On RM1,500 a month that is RM86.54 for the day. The calculator derives it from the salary rather than holding it as a separate figure, so raising the salary raises the rest day rate with it instead of leaving the two to drift apart.
What if the contract does not start on the first of the month?
Then the pay periods run from the anniversary of the start date - a contract beginning on the 15th is paid 15th to 14th - which is how most domestic helper contracts are actually written. The calculator can also use whole calendar months instead, in which case the first and last periods are pro-rated by the days worked in them.
Can a loan or advance be deducted from the monthly salary?
Yes, and it is better written into the schedule than remembered. Enter the total and the number of months and the instalment is spread evenly across them, capped so the final instalment clears the balance exactly and no month deducts more than is still owed. Every payslip then shows the instalment and what remains.
What does the calculator produce at the end?
A salary payment schedule on the agency's letterhead: one line per pay period showing basic pay, rest day allowance, SOCSO and loan deduction and the net payable, a signature block for both parties, and an individual payslip for every month of the contract. It prints to PDF, and it can be sent to the employer over WhatsApp as a link.
Is anything I type here stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation happens in your own browser and the draft is kept only in that browser, so passport and identity card numbers are not uploaded anywhere by the act of typing them. A copy leaves the browser only if you choose to share the document, and even then the maid's passport number and the employer's identity card number are left out of what is sent.
The figures above follow the PERKESO Rate of Contribution schedule and are given as a guide. They are not legal or tax advice, and a placement’s own terms are what the signed contract says. For advice on a specific placement, speak to HUNA Employment.

Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4), wage ceiling RM6,000. These are the figures the calculator above reads from.
